- √√√ ROWS (Run Horizontal)
- Spreadsheets are basically a grid-like paper with rows and
- columns. Rows run from the left side to the right side of the paper
- .
- √√√ COLUMNS (Run Vertical)
- Columns are vertical spaces that run from the top of the
- Worksheet to the bottom of the Worksheet.

- √√√ CELLS
- Wherever a row and column intersect, the box that is formed
- is called a Cell. Cells are used to hold information or data,
- like Employee or $35.56.

- √√√ MAIN MENU
- The Main Menu contains the commands that processes information
- that will be entered on the worksheet.

- √√√ Worksheet
- Worksheet is where you do all your calculations and entries.
- It has rows and columns for holding the data that you enter. Where
- a row and column meet it forms a cell (box). It is in this box
- called a cell that you enter your data.

- √√√ THE FORWARD SLASH (/) COMMAND
- The Forward slash, which is located left of the Shift key,
- is used to retrieve the command panel.The Command Panel
- displays a list of the Lotus commands at the top of your screen.

- √√√ ARROW KEYS
- There are four arrow keys that move the blinking cursor.
- There is one key for up, one for going down the page
- and one each for going to the right and to the left of
- the page (worksheet).
- With most entries you will use the right or down arrow for
- locating the cursor.

- √√√ THE HOME KEY
- The Home Key will return you to the first row and
- first column (A1) of your worksheet. If your data goes off the
- screen press the Home key to return you to Home base (A1).

- √√√ HOME KEYS AND END KEYS
- The End key moves the blinking cursor to end of page.
- Pressing the Home key moves the cursor back to the last cell entry.

- √√√ END KEY AND THE FOUR ARROW KEYS
- The End key and the four Arrow keys will get you to any
- of the four ends of the worksheet, if there are no entries,
- in that row or column. The cursor will stop at the first entry
- in that row or column.

- The following exercise assumes there are no entries on the
- worksheet.

- ▀ If you press the End key it will be highlighted on the right
- bottom of screen.
- ▀ Now press the right arrow and release. The cursor will go
- the last column. (IV column 256)
- ▀ The End key and the left arrow will take you back home
- To A1, same as the Home key.
- ▀ The End key and the down arrow will take you to the last
- row 8,192.
- ▀ The End key and the Up arrow will take you back to A1,
- same as the Home key.

- √√√ THE ESC KEY
- The Escape key acts like an eraser. It erases any data
- that is not entered. It also backs your worksheet to
- the previous sheet to the Ready mode .

- √√√ THE GOTO KEY <F5>
- This express key will zoom you to any cell you want.
- First press the <F5> Function key.
- Then enter a location such as, column F and row 8 (F8).
- Then press the Enter key and the cursor will zip to cell F8.
- This makes it unnecessary to use the arrow keys and work
- your way one cell at a time.

- √√√ THE SHIFT, ALT, CONTROL KEYS
- To use any key on the keyboard you strike and release the key.
- There are three exceptions to this rule. The Shift, Alt,
- and Ctrl are used with other keys:
- For example, <Shift+F5>. To make the <Shift+F5> key you
- must press and hold down the <Shift> key then press
- the <F5> Function key. Then release both keys.
- This procedure is the same for all three special keys.
